ABOUT

Addressing patient’s unmet medical needs, tackling climate change and depletion of natural resources, developing beneficial and resistant crops and plants – these are just some of the challenges that cutting-edge biotech will help to tackle on the road to 2030.

But how can we ensure an inclusive dialogue around research ethics in this area, what stands in the path of world leading EU scientific breakthrough, and how can we foster a biotech ecosystem that prioritises people and planet?

These are just some of the questions that have been addressed during European Biotech Week, at this lunch hosted by MEP Henna Virkkunen & Anthea McIntyre, on the 25th September in the European Parliament.

You can find some impressions of the event below - more photos will follow soon.

The European Biotech Week

Celebration of biotech

across europe

The European Biotech Week celebrates biotechnology, an innovative and vibrant sector launched by the discovery of the DNA molecule back in 1953. The first European Biotech Week that took place in 2013 marked the 60th anniversary of this pivotal moment in history.

This year, the European Biotech Week will be celebrated for the 7th time all across Europe and will engage all stakeholders in a dialogue on the benefits of biotechnology
